about

The Mistys first transmission for Castles in Space is this single edit of "Markers" lifted from the forthcoming LP "Detached Engagement".

Written in their Manchester studio, "Detached Engagement" is Beth and Andrew's third album as The Mistys and their first for CiS.

These intelligent, considered arrangements leave lots of space for Beth's incredible voice to float, yet the songs cut deep enough to stay with you long after the tracks have ended. A track, "Bite Marks" from their previous album "Pregnant Mannequin" was used in a key scene in the first series of "Killing Eve" for the BBC and has received 1.5 million streamed plays. "Detached Engagement" builds on that wider recognition with a set of tunes for those who like quick witted and emotionally intelligent songs set against superb production jobs. Dynamic and so beautifully written and performed, these songs are just everything. Listen to "Markers" and hear that perfect build rise as chorus falls on chorus. Beth is extraordinary throughout. It's a great introduction to the ten beautifully crafted songs on the album.

This first burst of The Mistys for CiS comes with a brilliant Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development remix that borrows something from Vince Clarke's pop nous and adds some layered up bleeps to the mix.
